Well i am finally on to my general update. over the last to months as you can tell from my previous 4 posts has been super crazy and that really did sum up a lot of what happened. we celebrated a lot, we enojyed family, we loved the holidays, and there was a little work thrown in. I wish i could say the summer is slowing down, but its not. but it will get at least a little farther apart.
well for april apart from Dani's visit it was pretty normal. I kept busy trying to prep for Rykers birthday. since it was my first it made me nervous. im not good at hosting. i dont like being in charge. haha. makes it hard when im a mom and im always in charge. its just helping me right? and i dont feel bad disciplining my kids so i guess i grew into that roll.
Anyways some fun events that happened, we had the ward auction to help raise money for scouts and YW camp. we ended up getting a bowel that had popcorn, red licorice, a huge bag of peanut m&ms!, and 2 movies. i was all over that. the movies were in the heart of the sea. the moby dick one with chris hemsworth who plays thor, and then fantastic beasts and where to find them. i have been wanting that one real bad so what a great excuse to get it. it was awesome. because justin doesnt like nuts i got all the m&ms to myself and it was delish. we are going to pretend that i didnt eat them all in like 3 days, but that may or may not have happened. i made some sugar cookie cheesecake cups. they were delish, and the people who bought them also thought so. hurray! i love making desserts.
we had a fun day at shasti's house for joyschool one week. she has a lot of land and some animals. She has recently gotten some rabbits (like huge rabbits that you would eat) and has a cage in her backyard. After our lesson we let the kids outside to play on the play structure. i look out and notice that all the kids are gone from the playground. odd... knowing she doesnt have a fence i go out to find my kids as well as everyone else. they are all in the bunny cage with the door wide open. first thought in my head was oh crap bunnys are out. plus its dirty in there. so i become the mean mom and get all the kids out of the bunny cage. i close the door and talk to shasti to make sure that all 3 are still in there. none escaped, but i go and wipe down my kids. so we let them play a little longer and us moms are watching from just inside the house. low and behold they all leave disapear again. i run outside knowing that they are probably with the rabbits again. i go over and the cage door is wide open. neither bunny or kid is in the cage. crap.... so i close the door, find the kids on the other side of the shed by a truck looking at this rabbit under it. so i shoo all the kids inside. sorry if i was mean, but they really cant be letting all the animals out. thats a huge headache for everyone. i felt a little bad, but also felt bad that there was now a real problem we had to figure out. as me and shasti and caitlyn try to herd this bunny back into its cage. (luckily only 1 got out.) but the neighboors 2 german shepards come rushing over to chase this rabbit. of course it goes berserk. (these dogs had killed their 4th bunny like a week before) so now we are fighting to keep these dogs away and keep the rabbit in sight. they clamped jaws on the rabbit a few times but nothing with lasting damage. we eventually get the dogs to go home and we find the rabbit between the shed and another cage hiding. shasti climbed through to grab it and put it back in the cage. crisis averted!!! but non of us were excited about trying to catch a rabbit. my mind quickly went to "farm hand on grandads ranch herding cows" and though this was nothing like that, i was ready to help however i could.
Carlee came to visit! she helped us with our tile work at night. a lot was keeping us entertained which was very helpful. she played a ton with the kids. she came with us to Gymagic and the library. we had a lot of fun with her here. it was mellow, but thats just what we needed. She helped watch the kids after church on sunday so i could go to a ward conference for my calling. it was the first full week of rylies potty training so she helped watch kids while i was trying to focus on rylie. we love when family comes!
well ryker is doing great. he started swim lessons this week. between vacations we can only do 1 one the 3 summer sessions, but hopefully we can maybe get into a habit of going often to help keep up on the skills. We are to the point in his potty training that we are trying not to be involved. he can get dressed by himself in the morning, so over the last few months we have been helping him less and less. though he still wants our "help" he does everything himself and can go all on his own. as we were starting to do this he yells for me to come help. then stops me at the door and says wait! i have an idea... how about i do it myself. great idea bud. that would be awesome.
he is becoming more and more like dad. he hates to have his food mixed together, he prefers them separate. poor grandma learned that first hand watching them while we were on our cruise when she tried to mix in peas to his cornbread and gravy. he did not like that as much. he has gotten selectively picky about food lately. one night he asked me all day for meatballs for dinner. when i made them, he was so mad and said i hate meatballs! fine. you dont have to have any. i put some on rylies plate and he then got so excited. oh i love meatballs!!! this kid. what am i going to do with him... we had a sad moment the other day when he did something i asked and just out of habit i said thanks baby! he looked at me very concerned. mom, im not a baby, im ryker! that hurt my mom heart a little bit that he is indeed not my little baby anymore. he is growing so much and i love watching him.
rylie is doing awesome too. she is rocking her potty training and is doing a little better than ryker at nap/bed time. she actually hardly ever wakes up wet. i think i might try to night train them both at the same time. we will get to that. maybe in a little bit. she still is super independant. she has recently gotten super clingy too. ryker is always all over justin when he is home, but now rylie is all over me whenever i need to actually be doing something. i love you, but i also have to make dinner. its hard, but we are working on it. and i love that she wants to be with me. she also gets very possesive when ryker wants to snuggle. when he leans up against me she will always run over, no! my mom! its sweet, but we need to share mom. i have 2 sides and 3 kids. there will be a lot of sharing going around.
rex is getting so big too. he is now pulling himself up on everything. he has started to walk along things a little bit but mostly if he can get tall enough he is thrilled. he is better about crawling more instead of just inchworming it. still loves to put everything in his mouth. he loves to roll whenever i change his diapers and often i give up and let him crawl around naked for a few min before i wrestle him into a diaper so he doesnt mess all over the carpet. but gosh darn he is so cute. his vampire grin just kills me. i cant even remember the last update i made about his teeth, but his canines decided to come first up top. just like aunt crystal. but his smile is so contagious and he loved to laugh with the other kids. and often at mom while i make some stupid face or weird noise. good thing my face doesnt stick like that. ;) right now rylie is really good about making him laugh while in the car.
everyone is doing great. some days we are still trying to find motivation to work on the bathroom. its such a long project, but it will be worth it when we are done! work is still going well for justin. things are busy but not too bad right now so luckily he can work pretty normal hours right now. glad for a little break, but already looking forward to our next vacation!
