Rex Birthday

While we were gone on vacation, Rex had his first birthday!!!!! it was so great to celebrate. we didnt do anything crazy, but we opened some fun gifts and then had a fun pull apart cake saturday morning followed by a trip to the zoo.

But I love our Rex Keith! I cant believe its been a year already. he doesnt look like the little baby we brought home. first off he is our sunshine blondie which i never would have guessed. but he has a sweet sweet smile. he already loves playing (and eating) cars. he wants to be like his older siblings so bad. though he is not walking yet he still follows everyone around. at his year appointment he came in at 25 lbs and 31 inches long. he has always been our big boy, but he just looks so dang cute i will cry when his baby chub starts to go away. i secretly hope he takes a while to walk so i can keep those chubby thighs around for a while longer.

He has such a happy personality. he gets cranky when its time for food or sleep, but in general he is so happy. he still looks just like the pic of great grandpa rex. his blue eyes are so bright they just sparkle. he officially has his 8 front teeth, though i think the molars are starting with how cranky he has been.

we love him so much and are so happy he is in our family!

Fun at the Zoo! I am so sad that Erica is not in any of these pictures. she was so nice to come with us.

Reunions all around!

So a lot has happened and its really daunting to write about, so i have been trying to not acknowledge it for the last week. haha. i have over 200 pics and lots of videos, i will try not to overwhelm you. i might break it up if i get overwhelmed haha

Basically we are just getting back to being home from vacation. We went to visit my grandparents for the 24th of July celebration. we havent been back to the valley since before rylie was born. rylie needed to see the ranch, and rex needed to meet my grandad reed who he is named after. we drove to broomfield and got to see the new house thursday night. then mom took ryker and rylie and drove down to manassa. justin, rex and i didnt follow till the next morning. the kids went to the parade with mom and loved it. we met them there and then went to visit the ranch for a little bit. we saw amber and her family and lindsay, josh, clay, aunt penny and uncle ed. it was fun to see them all. josh lindsay penny and edd ended up spending 2 nights the next week with us in broomfield. that evening we played at grandma andersons. we put the kids down upstairs and then switched them to aunt kristis for the night. bad plan.... poor rex didnt travel well and it was a rough night for all. but we had fun at the parade saturday morning. the kids definitely got the hang of collecting the candy. we still have a huge bag of it. we might give it away for halloween haha. we went to the demolition derby with brandon, alicia, katelynn, hayden, and clay. it was fun and better than how they did it last time we came. though we did mis the welded division. but we had to get home to some kiddos. sunday we made it to sacrament meeting before we drove home to broomfield. great trip! fun but awesome.

justin went home on tuesday and we spent the rest of that week and the next week and a half with mom in broomfield. we helped her unpack (though the kids were not so good at the putting away part) a few boxes. we were mostly good at keeping kids out of the way while grandma and grandad went to town moving boxes. we loved spending time (however short) with aunt alicia and uncle brandon as they came to and from work. days off were the best!

im going to skip a bit and move on to the reunion. we had a day where it was just the reed clan! ethan couldnt be there because of his new job he couldnt get the time off. but the rest of us were there. brandon and alicia drove round trip basically all the day before to pick up their girls from idaho. it was great! all the cousins loved seeing each other and playing. we spent thursday morning doing a project for my parents. we were helping caulk all their windows to help seal it before fall/winter come. in case you were curious, justin and i are really good at this and had no problem jumping in to help. we went on the roof and did all the upper windows. its just second nature now. ;)

that evening we went bowling. the kids had a blast! they all did pretty well, i mean for toddlers with bumpers and the ball slide to help. but still! we spent a lot of time helping them so when it came down to it they had played 1 and a half games and we as adults still needed to finish our game 1st. we had to pick up the pace a little after that, but we enjoyed it. the next morning we went swimming. the kids always love that. we all just chilled in the kiddie 1 ft pool but it was worth it. a little chilly with the breeze, but we still had fun playing and splashing around.

that afternoon we were all off to estes park! that whole day everyone was kind of getting in so we would say hi as we were all settling down getting into rooms and such. but we had a great evening. saturday was a lot of fun. brandon, dani, justin and i went and did archery in the morning. alicia and the girls, plus carlee and beez did rock climbing later. my parents did archery too in the afternoon. all in all there was a lot going on and we all got to do some fun things. we took the kids and did some really easy mini golf. ryker got really into it. he would push it to the hole in a shuffle board motion. it was hilarious. but we got through 9 holes in like 5 min! haha. we tried to make it last longer but after 15 min or so the rain started anyway so we headed back to the lodge. justin and i went out for a quick get away sat night for about an hour to celebrate our anniversary on sunday. 6 years! we have had a lot happen in the last year specifically with the house and rex and all that, but its been a great 6 years and i love him more than ever! im so glad he knows me so well and i am so glad we have such a loving relationship. still no fights so we are still doing well on our commitment to that with each other.

sunday was a little more mild.  we had a family devotional in the morning. there was a local ward that had sacrament meeting at 1. and then people started taking off. we mostly just hung out at the lodge. the kids were not sleeping well at all so any nap or bedtime justin and i had to be in the room to 1. make sure they stayed in bed or to help if they needed the bathroom. and 2. to be quite on the off chance someone was actually sleeping. rex slept horribly. (unfortunately like most of this trip) but luckily i now had justin to help and we made it through. but boy oh boy were we happy to get home. monday morning at about 4am we took off for our long journey home. it was a crazy 14 hr drive, but we made it and were so happy to just be home.
