Rayce Isaac and Radlee Jane

So now that it has been 4 weeks, i am finally getting around to writing Rayce and Radlee's birth story. Dont judge too harshly i just had twins.

So i was so uncomfortable i was looking for any reason and anyway these babies could come early. i was doing all the normal things that were not dangerous. I was bouncing on a birth ball. walking around a lot. anything to encourage labor. of course it all helped me stay healthy, but no babies. my biggest discomfort was that i was too the point where i could feel my skin stretch if i would bend or reach a certain way. like a read hot tearing pain. not fun. everything hurt. the kids wanted to be all over me and i practically wanted out of my own body. i tried to be okay with it and give them the attention they needed knowing it would change soon. but it was still hard. I tried to keep myself busy. i deep cleaned the van after all our travels the last few months. i scrubbed the linoleum floors to get the ground in dirt and grime off. i even toothbrush scrubbed the grout in the kitchen floor. it all helped to  distract a little, but still no babies.

I was going in got a fluid check ultrasound and a non stress test every week when i saw my dr. it would take like 4 hrs each week for my drs visits. most of that was wait time which was killer. but the twins always were healthy and growing how they should which was a huge blessing. In the end thats what we wanted. Healthy babies that didnt need any NICU time. at my 36 wk appointment he did the group b strep test and told me i was about 3 cm dialated and 70% effaced. woohoo!!!!!! i have never been that far along without actively being in labor. it gave me hope that any moment now these babies would show up. he told me that he would induce me in about a week if they still hadnt shown up. i fully expected now to make it... well i did. the next week at 37 wks 4 days i had my next drs appointment. fallyn was driving down in hopes of seeing the birth. we had convinced beez to drive down after work. Mom had flown in mon night. everyone was so ready! i even brought my hospital bag in hopes that my dr would just send me over. we went through the usual routine. ultrasound, NST, then Dr check. i was still 3 cm and 80% effaced. i joked and half begged to just go to the hospital now, but the dr laughed it off and said ya, call in tomorrow morning and we will fit you in. ugh.... so i was mostly depressed but trying not to be a huge downer.

so the next morning I call at 6:30am and they have no room. call back at 9am. I was hoping at least we could get in right away, but no. that didnt help my mood. we have a fun morning celebrating the 4th. we lit a few mini fireworks, washed ethans car because mom wanted too, and had a fun little parade. i mostly sat and watched because moving is difficult. so i call again at 9 and still no room. call back at noon. thankfully they called me at 11! they asked when could i be there. i said im 20 min away so i will be there within the half hour. get these babies out!

we show up about 1130 and get checked in. at noon i am in my room and by 1 they have an iv placed. the dr comes in and breaks rayces water sac (2 different sacs, one for each baby). this made me nervous. i was so convinced that because i was already 3 cm that if they broke my water it would maybe be 2 hrs and babies would be here. i think thats why it felt like it took forever, i was expecting it to go faster. anyways, they dont start pitocen yet. luckily my nurse was very attentive to what i said my labors were like and that i deliver really fast. she kept a good eye on me. she didnt want to start pitocen till i got my epidural, and they needed to see what my body would do now that my water was broken. so we had beez and fae come and hang out with us for a bit. they checked me at about 5pm and i wa 5/6 cm. i was feeling contractions ever since i got to the hospital, but now i wanted the epidural. it came fairly quickly, but only really took on one side. i thought it at least took the edge off, but after a few more contractions they were just as bad. once i had my epidural they started pitocen. i tried everything i could think of to relieve the pain on that one side but it kept getting worse. i was struggling through and holding onto justin for support through each contraction. i couldnt focus on the card game we were playing anymore. at 7 i was checked again and was 6/7 cm. we talked to the nurse and she had me roll even more to one side to help get everything in position and hopefully help. we also talked to the anesthesiologist to come give me a booster shot. basically a strong one time dose. that helped a ton! however now i could feel absolutely nothing in my right leg and only from calf down in my left haha. but the pain was significantly better! after only a few more contractions i was feeling a ton of pressure. by now it was just after 8. the nurse came in to see if the epidural was feeling better and i had her check me again. she said i was complete and it was time to go!

unfortunately because i was having twins i needed to deliver in the OR. this meant that justin could be there, but beez and fae had to wait in my recovery room. i felt really bad since they traveled all this way. but i didnt know the rules. i kinda wish they could have seen it. anyways, at 830 they wheeled my bed out. justin was all in scrubs. They were telling me all day that they were prepping the OR, but when we got there it still look like half an hour to get things set up and everyone there. they had me scoot onto the operating table. keep in mind i cant move half my body. im sure it was a site to see. but we made it work. my dr was there and once he was all prepped and ready told me i could start pushing, rayce's head was right there i didnt need to wait for a contraction. so i pushed for 2 counts of 10 and he was here!!! i was instantly bawling. i got to have him on my chest for a bit. he was so beautiful. purple and newborn wrinkly but we were instantly in love. for the few min in between my dr had his hand on my stomach to hold radlee in place. he broke her water and she moved right down. once they took rayce so i could push again, i pushed for 1 count of 10 and then just a little more and she was here! they placed her on my chest. she was so tiny!!! she didnt stay as long till they took her to clean up. but i was cleaned up. i didnt tear at all. placentas were delivered. they were super close to each other. my dr showed us and it was cool to see. they scooted me back to my hospital bed and i got to hold both babies as they wheeled me back to the recovery room.

beez and fae were there to see briefly before they had to go. i was back in my room by 930 ish and they had to leave by 10. fallyn literally had just enough time to drive all the way back to utah and get to work on time. i dont know how she did it. beez got home around 2 am but still had to work thurs. justin spent the first night with me and helped with babies. mom spent the second night with me and we went home fri morning.

we are so happy to welcome Rayce Isaac Deitrick 6 lbs 13 oz, 19 1/2 inches, born at 9:09 pm July 4th and Radlee Jane Deitrick 6 lbs, 19 1/2 inches born at 9:15pm July 4th to our family. the complete us and we are so happy they are here!!!

New Home

I told you (me) that it would probably be a while before I posted again and i was right. weird, its like i got a little busy... maybe.... ;)

for the catch up portion of this post, not much went on. we continued to unpack and get things organized. we continued to fix the little things around the house. the main thing being ants. gah! we are still fighting them but that has been the biggest hassle. darn bugs... we finished decorating and making it more homey.

we had a visit from aunt carlee and antie beez. it was for a short weekend, but we loved having them visit. they took the kids to a truck show at the library. it was fun. we continued to prep for the twins and i continued to get more and more uncomfortable. we went to our wards pioneer day ( a month and a half early.) but enjoyed our time there. we have really felt blessed to be in such a great ward. they have really reached out to us and it has been so great. God really knew where we needed to be.

The biggest change was on the 4th of July, the twins came!!! I was finally induced and i couldnt have been happier to have them out of my body. i have loved holding them and loved being a little more comfortable even though i am losing a lot of sleep and there are other parts of me that hurt now. its worth it. we have loved having them here. rylie is so sweet and wants to hold radlee all the time. she will settle for rayce, but she prefers radlee. she always has to say hi and give them a kiss. everytime one of them cries she runs over. "the babies need me!!!" its so adorable. she is such a great helper. ryker doesnt really care for them, but is good to watch out for them while he is playing. he is a decent helper to get me things i need if i cant move or to help put a pacifier in while im busy. Rex is intrigued by them and will sit by them on the floor if they are playing. he liked to tickle their toes. its adorable. but he also is the one that is struggling the most with the change of attention. he has just been more clingy and whiny. we are trying our best to work with it, but its a change none the less. i try hard to be empty handed when he needs some cuddle time so its just him and me. but with 2 new babies that is not always 100% the case. again, its a work in progress and he is better now than he was a few weeks ago.

my mom was here for 2 weeks to help out. that was a huge blessing. she was able to take babies for the night and just bring them in to eat. those precious few hours were so heavenly. i definitely miss her now that she is back home. haha. but we are managing. it takes about an hour to feed both babies and they eat about every 3 hrs. so i dont get a lot. but im hoping it will get better and faster. we have had so much help from our ward too. with meals and people coming to take the older kids out to play. we have seriously been so blessed with all kinds of help i really cant express how grateful we are. it truly has been amazing.

The twins are now 4 weeks old. They are growing and starting to fill out a little. Miss Radlee was our little one when she was born at 6 lbs even and dropping to 5 lbs 9 oz. but she is up to about 7 lbs now. Rayce was bigger at 6 lbs 13 oz and only dropping to 6 lbs 9 oz. he is now closer to 8 lbs. i am so glad they are growing and getting used to life. now to get them used to day and night! haha.

we have mostly been on survival mode so we have not done much. but we have loved the service that others have shared with us and the love they have shown us. we are a family of 7 now! crazy!
