New Year, New Beginnings

I hope my younger kids dont think i am shafting them by not posting about them as often as I did with the older ones. In my defense, life is so much crazier with 2 babies, a toddler, and 2 kids. or however they are defined. either way we are constantly on the move and i have little time for luxuries like posting on the blog. but i want to keep the record! so im trying. dont hate, just enjoy what you get. also this is mostly an apology to myself several years from now reading this so it probably doesnt apply to any one else, feel free to disregard.

December obviously came with a lot of Christmas fun. luckily the twins were not mobile so with some gentle reminders the tree stayed standing and only a few ornaments were taken off, but nothing broke! next year we might not be as lucky..... Ryker had his christmas concert and it was so cute! timing was rough, so i stayed home with the other 4 and dad went to see his concert. but i did get lots of ics and got to see the recording of his songs. he did great. he is growing up so fast.

Grandma and Grandpa Deitrick came to visit for Christmas. we had so much fun with them. we made cookies for santa and had way too much fun decorating. We got to talk and catch up a lot. They let us go on date night which i love love love! We loved to play with them everyday. Grandpa and dad had a fun Christmas project welding shop stools together. It was fun for them to learn together and to bounce ideas off each other.

of course we celebrated miss Rylies birthday. our big 4 year old! like most years, i feel like she has been 4 forever. separate post on that next. but we love her so much! and she had a great day.

Rex is doing great. he is still super clingy and cuddly. we love the cuddles! but are anxious for the clingy phase to wear off. he does great if mom and dad are not around. but if he can see us we need to be holding him. but we are learning to adjust to that too.

the twins are doing great. knock on wood... i hope they keep their current schedule. they eat solids for all 3 meals. just baby foods and oatmeal for now, but they are enjoying it. and they both sleep well at night. they only get up once occasionally one of them will get up a second time. but then they get up around 8am. its been nice. i have been loving the sleep. now i just need to figure out how to be smarter about going to bed at a reasonable time to get the benefits of their longer nights.

rayce is rolling and scooting around like crazy. definitely doesnt stay in 1 spot for long. Radlee is not too far behind. though she is content to stay in the same spot she has recently started to roll more and likes to scoot on her back. she is our resident pterodactyl. she will screech all the time. though we are anxious to put and end to it, it doesnt always mean she is sad. sometimes it is a happy screech haha.

2 weeks ago the flu hit our house pretty bad. poor ryker was out of school for a whole week. he was so miserable on the couch with a fever for 5 days. he wasnt hungry to eat anything and after trying to take sweet flavored tylenol that made him puke he didnt want to take it at all anymore. so the meds to make him feel better and bring his fever down he refused. i couldnt put it in his food because he wouldnt eat anything! it was a long week and i hurt for him. the hard week didnt stop there with Rylie getting a fever thursday morning, (though she didnt have it as bad as Ryker.) the twins have been teething all week so they were extra fussy. radlee got a stuffy nose with her teething. And the icing on the cake was justin came down with it thursday after work. poor guy was dead to the world for 2 days. he was so miserable. he and ryker had it the worst for sure. so rex and i were holding out strong as the healthy ones! though rex is 2 and still clingy. so i was holding down the fort. it was not fun... but we are all doing better now! rex had his turn last week with just a super snotty nose, but other than that he was pretty unscathed. im stressed from dealing with stress. haha.

we have had our first month of 2 hr church. it is so great i am so so happy!!!! haha. rex has pretty much napped during second hour every week. hm..... strange. he is not this tired at home at this same time. haha. oh well. we are working on it.

but i think we are good now! i hope so. i hope its smooth sailing till summer.  Ryker is caught up on school work now, rayce had his first tooth come through last week with a second well on its way. radlee is happy. rylie is a great helper still. we are doing good. so far still surviving! i saw a post online today that says back in Minot it is currently -13 with a wind chill of -52. boy oh boy i have never been as happy to be in california with our "chilly" 54 degree mornings. haha. okay i dont miss it being that cold.

my last 2 bags of breastmilk! pumping was so hard. i was so thrilled to be done. i am a little sad to not go through nursing/breastfeeding again. im grateful for my body and its ability to provide for all 5 of my babies on the inside and outside. we made it work in different ways, but i was always able to feed them. it was a good journey!
