Summer is HOTT!!!!

i really hope that someday i will get back to doing monthly. it really is so much easier to remember everything. since i have 3 month old twins and im hardly sleeping anyway, i think i will go by kid instead of by event. sorry if i miss anything. haha

Ryker - He started school!!!! its so crazy. he is in kindergarten every morning till about lunch. it was real fun (NOT) to gather all 5 kids in the car to drop him off and then again 3 hrs later to pick him up. it was always at mid nap or feeding time and everyone was cranky. but a wonderful lady and friend from our ward Pam now comes to pick him up every morning to take him with her son and then he rides the bus home and i just get him from the stop. his school is very good about safety and making sure everyone is following the rules to stay safe and accounted for. it makes me feel better about sending my baby to school! Rylie misses him, but then enjoys the mornings with mom and rex and the twins. he has learned a lot already and has remembered a lot from preschool.

Rylie is loving time at home and loving the twins. she always rushes over "Radlee needs me!!" everytime she cries. though not so much now because lets face it, they cry all the time. but i still hear her say it occasionally and it still melts my heart. she has loved getting them to smile.

Rex is a great buddy. i think he still feels the weight of no longer being the baby anymore. he loves to cuddle. he is slowly getting more words, and definitely has an opinion. he is our little sneaky boy! he loves to get an apple out of the dish to eat whenever he feels like it. thats not a bad thing, except that its 4-5 times a day and he never finishes the apple! i find half eaten apples everywhere. once i caught him hiding eating 2!! apples at the same time. spoiler alert, he didnt finish either of them. i dont know how we got our kids to do this, but he does put himself in his room when he is moping and upset. ryker does this all the time. i mean its great, i dont have to drag him to his room. rex is so naughty at bedtime. we put him and rylie to bed around 7. this has been this way for a long time. but it takes approximately 2 seconds before the door creaks open and he is trying to sneak out. we used to get super frustrated, but now we attempt to put him back to bed a few times, then leave him to fall asleep on the floor. we put him to bed once we are going to bed. he is still our bottomless pit. but we love him so much and he brings so much joy to our home.

rex had  birthday!!! he is 2 years old and we love him so. so great to celebrate him. auntie beez got to join for his bday!

Rayce - He is a sweet boy, but he has been a rollercoaster. i cant remember where i left off in his story, but he had some tummy issues that made is so everytime he was awake he was basically screaming. it was hard and i cried often with him. when my MiL was here for the blessing we discussed it and ended up giving him a probiotic once a day and that helped a ton! he wasnt perfect, but it was so much better than what he was. now at 3 months he is doing so great. he still has cranky times like any baby, but he has a lot of happy times too. he sleeps great, and the smiles we get are so bright and wonderful.

Radlee - She is my calm baby. thank goodness for her. she is calm and happy more often than not. she sleeps well, she eats well, she is content to play on her own. we just love her. her smiles are so infectious, but she is very camera shy so its hard to capture to spread her love. she is getting some curves on her! and some redish hair is growing in.

both twins we finally (as of 2 days ago) kicked out of our room. i was so ready to have my own space back. they do mostly okay at night in general. im hoping this will solidify a decent schedule. they normally eat around 3-4am and then again around 6-7 ish. after that second feeding they are up for the day. we havent figured out morning naps yet, but we are trying to make that more consistent instead of 3/4 10 minute catnaps. but their afternoon nap from noon-3/4 is wonderful then they have one more catnap before bed at 7.

justin - he is doing great. tired because hello we have new babies. this week he started a contract with Aera oil. though he is excited for the opportunity, there is some stress involved with learning a new company and what they want him to do. he is doing great! just very fried when he gets home from work. but he is getting the hang of it quickly.

Dee - I am doing okay. im tired all the time and definitely have hard days. having twins is the hardest things i have ever done and i have meltdowns weekly. but they are getting better! and justin is such a great support. one night radlee had been up for 2 hrs and i couldnt get her to calm down and fall asleep again. i was up pacing the room with her in my arms. she was whining (not enough to wake rayce) and i was just so tired. both twins had a cold the they were congested and couldnt breath well. it had been 3 nights of 3 hrs or less of broken sleep. as i was pacing i was just sobbing. i tried to keep it quiet but i was at my wits end. so im sobbing (with my eyes closed because i hoped that in between the tears i could sleep for a wink) radlee is whining and im pacing back and forth in the dark. all of a sudden i bump into Justin. he woke up and saw the mess that was pacing the room. he gently took radlee with one hand and help me close with the other. it was helpful and even the quiet support was needed. that was a rough week. sometimes they still seem a little congested.

i have decided that through lots of pain and failed attempts that i am exclusively pumping. i decided this after they were a month and a half old. it just wasnt working. pumping is hard in that it takes time and there is not a lot i can do while i use those 20 min. sometimes both twins are crying. but i have been able to get enough to not use formula, and honestly it is making us all happier. if i can make it 6 months then thats a huge win to me. half way there!

justin is a great help at night. with my story above i didnt want it to sound like he sleeps all night. though he gets more than i do, he helps with the twins when they fuss. mostly its when i am up feeding the other one he helps rock them back to sleep. then makes sure they are both sleeping by the time i get back from pumping. its awesome. and as the twins grow they are doing better. everyone is doing better.

story about rex - this stinker... one night rylie came in asking to snuggle. with 2 bassinets its not really feasible so we sent her back to bed. justin went with her to tuck her back in. he looks over to check on rex and he isnt on his bed. thats common, we have a hard time getting him in his room for bed! but he wasnt on the floor or on rylies bed either. we have had him in the doll house before, nope not there. so justin comes back to our room and looks around. no rex... at this point he wakes me up asking if i know where he went. i havent heard a thing, so we both get up to search. one more look by my side of the bed and the rocking chair and closet, nothing. we do a deep search of his room, rykers room, the living room and kitchen. we cant find him. we check to make sure the doors are locked. but are getting really worried. we check the twins room, bathrooms, laundry room. he is not anywhere!!! we are freaking out... so back to our room we look again. he is not on my side, not justins, not our bathroom, closet or anywhere. I got down on my hands and knees to look on the floor and saw rex lovey. i at first figured he left it there in the morning and we never got it back. no, i make sure he has it for a nap so this is new. i look closely and find him curled up in the bottom basket of one of the bassinets. almost completely hidden by the skirt around the bassinet. huge relief! and we get him back to bed. but we were sure scared for 10 min there. definitely woke us up.

we had a lot of people visit and loved it! we had my parents and justins parents all come in for the blessing of the twins mid aug. it was so beautiful and we loved spending time with the grandparents. got some sweet pics.

Rayce Isaac and Radlee Jane

So now that it has been 4 weeks, i am finally getting around to writing Rayce and Radlee's birth story. Dont judge too harshly i just had twins.

So i was so uncomfortable i was looking for any reason and anyway these babies could come early. i was doing all the normal things that were not dangerous. I was bouncing on a birth ball. walking around a lot. anything to encourage labor. of course it all helped me stay healthy, but no babies. my biggest discomfort was that i was too the point where i could feel my skin stretch if i would bend or reach a certain way. like a read hot tearing pain. not fun. everything hurt. the kids wanted to be all over me and i practically wanted out of my own body. i tried to be okay with it and give them the attention they needed knowing it would change soon. but it was still hard. I tried to keep myself busy. i deep cleaned the van after all our travels the last few months. i scrubbed the linoleum floors to get the ground in dirt and grime off. i even toothbrush scrubbed the grout in the kitchen floor. it all helped to  distract a little, but still no babies.

I was going in got a fluid check ultrasound and a non stress test every week when i saw my dr. it would take like 4 hrs each week for my drs visits. most of that was wait time which was killer. but the twins always were healthy and growing how they should which was a huge blessing. In the end thats what we wanted. Healthy babies that didnt need any NICU time. at my 36 wk appointment he did the group b strep test and told me i was about 3 cm dialated and 70% effaced. woohoo!!!!!! i have never been that far along without actively being in labor. it gave me hope that any moment now these babies would show up. he told me that he would induce me in about a week if they still hadnt shown up. i fully expected now to make it... well i did. the next week at 37 wks 4 days i had my next drs appointment. fallyn was driving down in hopes of seeing the birth. we had convinced beez to drive down after work. Mom had flown in mon night. everyone was so ready! i even brought my hospital bag in hopes that my dr would just send me over. we went through the usual routine. ultrasound, NST, then Dr check. i was still 3 cm and 80% effaced. i joked and half begged to just go to the hospital now, but the dr laughed it off and said ya, call in tomorrow morning and we will fit you in. ugh.... so i was mostly depressed but trying not to be a huge downer.

so the next morning I call at 6:30am and they have no room. call back at 9am. I was hoping at least we could get in right away, but no. that didnt help my mood. we have a fun morning celebrating the 4th. we lit a few mini fireworks, washed ethans car because mom wanted too, and had a fun little parade. i mostly sat and watched because moving is difficult. so i call again at 9 and still no room. call back at noon. thankfully they called me at 11! they asked when could i be there. i said im 20 min away so i will be there within the half hour. get these babies out!

we show up about 1130 and get checked in. at noon i am in my room and by 1 they have an iv placed. the dr comes in and breaks rayces water sac (2 different sacs, one for each baby). this made me nervous. i was so convinced that because i was already 3 cm that if they broke my water it would maybe be 2 hrs and babies would be here. i think thats why it felt like it took forever, i was expecting it to go faster. anyways, they dont start pitocen yet. luckily my nurse was very attentive to what i said my labors were like and that i deliver really fast. she kept a good eye on me. she didnt want to start pitocen till i got my epidural, and they needed to see what my body would do now that my water was broken. so we had beez and fae come and hang out with us for a bit. they checked me at about 5pm and i wa 5/6 cm. i was feeling contractions ever since i got to the hospital, but now i wanted the epidural. it came fairly quickly, but only really took on one side. i thought it at least took the edge off, but after a few more contractions they were just as bad. once i had my epidural they started pitocen. i tried everything i could think of to relieve the pain on that one side but it kept getting worse. i was struggling through and holding onto justin for support through each contraction. i couldnt focus on the card game we were playing anymore. at 7 i was checked again and was 6/7 cm. we talked to the nurse and she had me roll even more to one side to help get everything in position and hopefully help. we also talked to the anesthesiologist to come give me a booster shot. basically a strong one time dose. that helped a ton! however now i could feel absolutely nothing in my right leg and only from calf down in my left haha. but the pain was significantly better! after only a few more contractions i was feeling a ton of pressure. by now it was just after 8. the nurse came in to see if the epidural was feeling better and i had her check me again. she said i was complete and it was time to go!

unfortunately because i was having twins i needed to deliver in the OR. this meant that justin could be there, but beez and fae had to wait in my recovery room. i felt really bad since they traveled all this way. but i didnt know the rules. i kinda wish they could have seen it. anyways, at 830 they wheeled my bed out. justin was all in scrubs. They were telling me all day that they were prepping the OR, but when we got there it still look like half an hour to get things set up and everyone there. they had me scoot onto the operating table. keep in mind i cant move half my body. im sure it was a site to see. but we made it work. my dr was there and once he was all prepped and ready told me i could start pushing, rayce's head was right there i didnt need to wait for a contraction. so i pushed for 2 counts of 10 and he was here!!! i was instantly bawling. i got to have him on my chest for a bit. he was so beautiful. purple and newborn wrinkly but we were instantly in love. for the few min in between my dr had his hand on my stomach to hold radlee in place. he broke her water and she moved right down. once they took rayce so i could push again, i pushed for 1 count of 10 and then just a little more and she was here! they placed her on my chest. she was so tiny!!! she didnt stay as long till they took her to clean up. but i was cleaned up. i didnt tear at all. placentas were delivered. they were super close to each other. my dr showed us and it was cool to see. they scooted me back to my hospital bed and i got to hold both babies as they wheeled me back to the recovery room.

beez and fae were there to see briefly before they had to go. i was back in my room by 930 ish and they had to leave by 10. fallyn literally had just enough time to drive all the way back to utah and get to work on time. i dont know how she did it. beez got home around 2 am but still had to work thurs. justin spent the first night with me and helped with babies. mom spent the second night with me and we went home fri morning.

we are so happy to welcome Rayce Isaac Deitrick 6 lbs 13 oz, 19 1/2 inches, born at 9:09 pm July 4th and Radlee Jane Deitrick 6 lbs, 19 1/2 inches born at 9:15pm July 4th to our family. the complete us and we are so happy they are here!!!
